  1. Bear children (for obvious biological reasons). Protect the family. Raise the family. Possibly work.
  2. Altogether, a technical issue. If the parenting figures in the family include one or more women, they would have the option for an biological mother in the family. Otherwize, they would have to "outsource" this, like through adoption, for instance. All parents have the same responsability of treating the child fair, and of beeing a role model to that child.

All parents have the same responsability of treating the child fair, and of beeing a role model to that child.

6. What is man’s attitude towards woman in a family?

  1. Bears and raises the children. Possibly work to be part of a dual income family (if she desires to do so). A lot of men (not all), often expect the woman to do the housework and cooking.
  2. I can't say anything general on this point, sorry.
  3. Loveful
  4. Depends on the woman, if she is good he will be happy with her, otherwise he might seek other company.
  5. partnership
  6. Respect for woman
  7. Equivalent
  8. LOVING,BOSSY
  9. In Sweden there is heterosexual myth that say that a man who has a female spouse should treat her as if she was a little more fragile, a little better at doing many things at the same time and better at talking feelings than him. However I have not enough experince to tell you wether that is a general "man-thing" or not. Maybe it's only a myth...

In Sweden there is heterosexual myth that say that a woman who has a male spouse should treat him as if he was a little more well read, better at doing constructive work and in greater need of alot of emotional support than her. However I have not enough experince to tell you wether that is a rule or not. Maybe that to is only something we watch on the American sit-coms...

8. Do women and men career perspectives are equal? If not, than what differencies exist?

  1. No. On average, men are much more career oriented than women. Men are more ambititious. Men feel that they need to be the bread winner for the family.
  2. Men generally have greater possibilities in careering than women. These inequalities would need conscience choices and politicial willing to reduce.
  3. Yes
  4. I do not understand this question, but I suppose it asks something about the equality between men and women in their respective careers. With regards to that my answer would be: Women have it easier pursuing a career beacuse they can utilize sex appeal to land themselves positions within a workplace.
  5. no, not in lithuania. women are taken less seriously, mostly because employers tend to relate them more to family and children (pregnancy, maternity leave, sickness leaves, less overtime and etc.)
  6. No, aren't.
  7. NO, THEY ARE NOT EQUAL. THERE IS A LARGE PART OF THE SOCIETY, STILL NOT ALLOWING WOMEN TO STUDY. WOMEN ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE CARE OF THE HOUSE AS WELL AS WORK EQUALLY. SHE IS EXPECTED TO QUIT WORKING AFTER SHE HAS A BABY, TO TAKE CARE OF THE BABY. SHE IS THE ONE WHO WILL QUIT THE JOB, IF THE MAN HAS TO MOVE TO ANOTHER PLACE
  8. They are not equal. For one there is the money-issue. In professions with a higher number of female workers, the salary is generally lower. There have been some changes over time to illuminate this: for example, in professional categories previously dominated by men, but now dominated by women (such as teachers) -salaries have dropped. And it's not just the money: Its more likely that you get a higher social status from working in a white-male-dominated profession. Plus alot of high-power-professions are not only dominated by men, but the women applyers are systematicaly discriminated in the recruitment process.
  9. Women may be more difficult to make a career if she becomes pregnant and needs was vacant for some time. Some employers do not accept that women are vacant because of their pregnancy.
  10. The perspectives are mostly equal except perhaps that a woman will usually think more about adapting her career to accomodate having children. Women take time off from work to care for the children much more often than men.

9. Is salary different for male and female? If yes, what differences would you identify?

  1. Yes. On average, men earn more than women when doing the same job.
  2. Yeah, generally men makes more money than women.
  3. Mens is often better paid
  4. Salary is in large the same for men and women, as it should be in most developed countries. If this were not the case, you probably would have have large problems with your society.
  5. not always, but yes in many cases. difference of around up to 10 and sometimes even 20% for the same position.
  6. Yes,it is.
  7. Yes some difference, women has often 10 percent lower for the same job.
  8. NO, THEY ARE NOT. RIGHT PEOPLE ARE GIVEN THE RIGHT COMPENSATION, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE GENDER
  9. See question above.
  10. Yes, women are paid less than men with the same education. Women are perhaps less able to help themselves and demand more in salary.

10. What is the attitude of the society towards a woman seeking a career path?

  1. Depends on what area of the country you are talking about. Generally speaking, while people are open to women working full time, the are still some areas of the country where mean prefer the women to focus on raising the children and taking care of the house (i.e. be more of a house wife).
  2. This could sometimes be hard for the woman, since she often still has the pressure of beeing head of family too. A man who prioritizes his career over his family, is just another bum, but a woman who does the same, more often, is treated with distaste and blame.
  3. Dont know
  4. The society loves women who pursues careers in my country. They will throw subsidiaries and sponsorhips at her fett should she choose such a path.
  5. society relates a woman to family, belief that man is a "feeder" of the family still can be felt.
  6. It is not light for woman...
  7. Positiv
  8. BECOMING MUCH MORE OPEN NOW. BUT THEY HAVE A SHORT-LIVED SIGHT FOR A WOMAN'S CAREER, WHICH MOSTLY IS EXPECTED TO STOP AFTER HER MARRIAGE
  9. It's OK, as long as she works twice as hard and don't compromise her family-life.
  10. That she is loud and thinks only of herself.

11. What is the attitude of the society towards a substandard family model – a woman financially keeping a family?

  1. This is still uncommon. While people are not against such a situation, most men would not want to be in this particular type of situation. The man would have to be very comfortable with this type of arrangement.
  2. I think this could be more accepted the greater this persons role in society is. No one would blame a minister of neglecting her family for her career, when her husband have a more ordinary role. The mistrust is greater the closer the two spouses are economally. For instance, if a man makes 2000 euro and the woman 2500 euro, she would still be expected to take the greater responsability for family, child care and probably more expected to stay longer home from work with a baby (which would lesser her career opportunities). Opposite, a girl friend of mine, who has a job with about 2100 euro, are together with a man who's studying (making less than half her salary). No one I've heard of has made any complaints of him making more house-labour, and her paying more bills, since the difference is so great.
  3. Don,t know
  4. Society loves it. There is nothing better for a man then to be able to live his life knowing that the wife will take care of the economy, allowing him to spend his time in leisure at home.
  5. your question already answers it - such model is considered to be substandard.
  6. No,a woman financially not keeping a family.
  7. THE ATTITUDE IS THAT A WOMAN CANNOT BALANCE BOTH WORLDS; ONE WILL SUFFER. HENCE, SHE IS EXPECTED TO LEAVE WORK AFTER A TIME. ONLY IN UNFORTUNATE SITUATIONS, WILL A WOMAN BE SUPPORTING THE FAMILY FINANCIALLY
  8. I don't understand the term "substandard family model". What would be the standard family-model in Sweden? However, I don't think the society in general have any concerns with a woman providing her family.
  9. It´s a bit sorry for her and wonders why the man is absent.
  10. Is that really necessarily "substandard"? If the woman's and man's combined salaries are a high amount it doesn't matter which of the two earns the most money, they may still exceed the national standard of living. In swedish society it is considered important that all adult members of the family contribute with productive work, but it doesn't matter much if the woman's salary is higher than the man's. If the man does nothing to bring money to the family that will be considered bad behavior.

12. What is the attitude of the society towards married men and women spending their leisure time separately?

  1. People are becoming more and more aware that a healthy marriage (and relationship) depends on the man and woman spending some time away from their partner. Menaing, each one should be doing their own activities.hovbbies either by themselves or with their respective friends (w/o involving the other partner). E.g. Guys or girls night out.
  2. I think they are expected to share their leisure time together, and not with individual hobbies. Generally I do not think this is a stable solution for any of them.
  3. Don,t know
  4. The society has no opinionn on how a man or a woman would choose to spend their time.
  5. usually such families are considered to be weird, different or not strongly related
  6. Sometimes it is normal.
  7. Strange, but of course they can spend their time separate some times.
  8. AS INDIAN CULTURE, MARRIED PEOPLE SPEND LEISURE TIME TOGETHER, AS THE MAN HAS LIMITED TIME OFF WORK, SO WHATEVER TIME LEFT IS SPENT WITH THE WIFE. ITS NOT A VERY COMMON PRACTICE OF SPENDING LEISURE TIME SEPARATELY FOR SOCIETY TO REACT TO IT
  9. I can't imagine anyone would care.
  10. If they spend all their leisure separate society are probably wondering if their relationship is bad.
