Lithuanian Showcase | SIRENOS

Could you name which one was most interesting and why?

  1. Seagull and Richard II
  2. book of job because of Nekrosius seagull because of OKT contemporary just nice
  3. The Seagull because of the different point of view of Chehovs play.
  4. The most interesting one has been to me "The Seagull", because of its way to reinvent the classical play with a contemporary approach. The result is that we have a completely up-to-date aesthetics, the depht of the original text and consequently the possibility to a real partecipation. The best proof for it has been that at the beginning I had some problems with the subtitles because of the grey background, but after the first few minutes I forgot even my personal difficulty to follow word by word and sunk in the performance!
  5. The Seagull and The Book of Job - becouse of great acting and directing. Contemporary becouse I like dance theatre. The Dreamspell becouse it's interesting to see some fresh works.
  6. "Most interesting" is a very difficult term. I had interest towards the Lithuanian symbolistic theatre as a whole. That's the main reason of my visit. I was very inspired by the showcase as a whole, because it gave me a great overview of the tendencies and currents, modern and classical themes in Lithuanian theatre today. Anyhow, if I had to choose just one, I think it would be THE SEAGULL. For the honest and straight-forward approach, for the deep concentration the ensemble had put into their work and for the energy they put into the performance that day. A strong feeling of a whole, feeling of one-ness in a group of actors is the most valuable quality of ensemble-acting. And it was there! I also loved Nekrošius's "The Book of Job". It is not an easy watching but the modern world sometimes needs another kind of glance from the audience. The performance had an atmosphere from another world, the kind of aura you don't meet everyday, even in theatre not. I would love to see more from MENO FORTAS and hope they will come to Tallinn, someday. Also, interesting was to see the students playing on the motifs of Dreamspell. Theatre Academy seems to be the place where Lithuanian theatre is born again and again, where it takes along it's good traditions and ever-present experiments with forms and symbols. So, I think it should be a constant member of the festival programme lists.
  7. 1 The Dreamspell (dir. Kamilė Gudmonaitė) because it is really solid and inventive work. I will try to invit this show in ma festival Sens Interdits in october 2015 2 The Seagull (dir. Oskaras Koršunovas) very strong show. I recommanded it to my ex-theater Célestins, théâtre de Lyon 3 Broken Heart Story (dir. Saara Turunen) for the thematic
  8. Most intresting was definitely Šarka's totally crazy performance as I've never seen something quite like that before.
  9. 'The seagull' - I saw it third time and I consider this performance as one of the most important theatre experience in my life - it's absolutely fantastic! I also like 'Contemporary?' very much because of its sense of humour, very good diagnosis of the problem and great dancer.
  10. I really, really enjoyed the Feast Fashion - I had never seen anything like it and I suppose that's the reason why I was so impressed by it. It was also just very well done and which for me was a bit surprising as the performance was from the Experimental Stage.
