Birthday celebration traditions in East Asian countries (China, South Korea and Japan) and Lithuania

What presents do you usually give to others/receive? Tell me more about them. Are they based on some kind of tradition or not in your opinion?

  1. Almost every time is money. For younger is toy. Because older people can buy anything they want. It isn't vased of tradition at all.
  2. Usually it's money as I don't wan to give something they might not like
  3. Usually my friends buy one present together and with specially meaning.
  4. Usually I get money. The best choice because you can buy whatever you want.
  5. Most of the times I make something, specially for parents. They love what I make or create.
  6. Usually, I give hand-made gifts, since I like to receive them, too. I usually bake cupcakes or make something special particulary for a person, for example, a photo album-memory book.
  7. I always ask the person what would they like to get on their birthday, because I like to buy things that will be used and not chosen out of the blue. If they don't tell me what they want, I often buy candy and make a memory notebook with photos of our friendship and some greetings, jokes, I put a lot of effort into making that notebook. It's a like a tradition between me and my friends.
  8. I give something, that i know they will like. It depends on the person, his/her hobies. I receive many sweets, chocolate and sometimes cups, teddies.
  9. Usually money and I always expect to receive money. Best present is money
  10. I usually tend to give people the things they want or need at the time, because othervise it's spending money for nothing. I also tend to buy gifts for people depending on wha their hobies are and what they like in general.
