Qualification improvement of primary school pedagogical personnel: Case of Lithuania and Scotland - Scotland
9. In your opinion, what problems teachers are facing when improving their pedagogical qualification? (State your personal opinion.)
No incentive to do so in Scotland anymore as no progression pathway through qualifications alone. Progression only through moving to a management position no progression for those who wish to remain a class teacher.
Time, improving qualifications is time consuming and techers has not time for additional work
Too much paper work.
Time - lack of.
Lack of time outside the classroom to observe others or reflect on personal development and learning.
Lack of clear progression structure for teachers other than management.
Too much change in policy taking up the space/energy that should be for personal professional development.
Lack of mentoring/ observation and feedback for professional development rather than performance management.
Time and financial aid to pay for extra qualifications
Time to study on top of working 50hours per week.
Financial backing to study higher qualifications such as masters degree in education. 60 credits are funded in my area, however it takes 180 to gain a masters at a cost of almost 3000pounds to the individual
