Birthday celebration traditions in East Asian countries (China, South Korea and Japan) and Lithuania

Is any of your birthdays more important than others? For example your first birthday and the others that you had?

  1. In Japan, there are ages which have special meaning ; these are 20,60,70,77,80,81,88,90,99 and 100 years old. In this case, my birthday may be more important than others.
  2. I think my 18th and 21st birthdays have been more important than others so far, because at 18 you become a legal adult and can vote, buy alcohol and cigarettes, and at 21 you can legally drink hard liquor, so I suppose these two birthdays signify your turning into a legally adult person, which changes your status in your actual life as well.
  3. In my country there are two most important birthdays : 18 and 50 years. 18 because your adulthood starts, 50 because you have lived half of century.
  4. My 18th birthday, because I celebrated it with my best friends
  5. No, others birthdays are more important.
  6. Yes, my 18th birthday, because then I got my driving licence.
  7. nah
  8. I don't think so.. Maybe 18th birthday because of legal age and upcoming responsibilities. Legal age line is when you start to think about things such as paying university tuition (since I am a student of ISM government cannot support full tuition price) and finding a job maybe to support yourself instead of living of my parents. But every other birthday for me seems equal.
  9. I feel like first, tenth and 20th is the hardest for parents. So it good bigger meanings to us too.
  10. I think they all are equally important
