Birthday celebration traditions in East Asian countries (China, South Korea and Japan) and Lithuania

Do you celebrate your birthday alone or with your relatives/friends? Why?

  1. I mostly celebrate it with my boyfriend when I have one or with friends when I don't. Our family is not close enough.
  2. with my family and friends. There is no particular reason for it. its kind of like tradition
  3. Both but separately. For relatives we tend to be more serious and calm. With friends it goes crazy at bars. I think Japanese family, or my family prefers more serious and formal way of celebration.
  4. Refer above pls. 'Why' is so hard question. The reason why I do with family is that my birthday is not only my anniversary. That also could be special day for my parents because my birthday means the day when they got their son.
  5. I loved my birthdays during childhood until probably becoming a teenager, when exstential worries appeared (like having 'the person' to celebrate my birthday with). I used to celebrate birthdays with my friends and parents/brother/grandmother. Now its only parents/brother/grandmother. Sometimes also with friends, but most usually I spend the actual birthday alone, celebrate it with my friends a few weeks before, and celebrate it with my family a week after.
  6. I celebrate with my friends or just with my boyfriend.
  7. Usually with my friends, but I don't plan it by my self. My friends plan it for me. If not, I celebrate it alone.
  8. When I was a kid, I used to celebrate with my friends. And now I don't do that coz it sounds like asking for birthday gift,,,
  9. With friends, boy friends and family because they know my birthday and held a party and give me a present.
  10. yes
