Woman and Man Situation in Different Cultures

8. Do women and men career perspectives are equal? If not, than what differencies exist?

  1. No. On average, men are much more career oriented than women. Men are more ambititious. Men feel that they need to be the bread winner for the family.
  2. Men generally have greater possibilities in careering than women. These inequalities would need conscience choices and politicial willing to reduce.
  3. Yes
  4. I do not understand this question, but I suppose it asks something about the equality between men and women in their respective careers. With regards to that my answer would be: Women have it easier pursuing a career beacuse they can utilize sex appeal to land themselves positions within a workplace.
  5. no, not in lithuania. women are taken less seriously, mostly because employers tend to relate them more to family and children (pregnancy, maternity leave, sickness leaves, less overtime and etc.)
  6. No, aren't.
  7. NO, THEY ARE NOT EQUAL. THERE IS A LARGE PART OF THE SOCIETY, STILL NOT ALLOWING WOMEN TO STUDY. WOMEN ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE CARE OF THE HOUSE AS WELL AS WORK EQUALLY. SHE IS EXPECTED TO QUIT WORKING AFTER SHE HAS A BABY, TO TAKE CARE OF THE BABY. SHE IS THE ONE WHO WILL QUIT THE JOB, IF THE MAN HAS TO MOVE TO ANOTHER PLACE
  8. They are not equal. For one there is the money-issue. In professions with a higher number of female workers, the salary is generally lower. There have been some changes over time to illuminate this: for example, in professional categories previously dominated by men, but now dominated by women (such as teachers) -salaries have dropped. And it's not just the money: Its more likely that you get a higher social status from working in a white-male-dominated profession. Plus alot of high-power-professions are not only dominated by men, but the women applyers are systematicaly discriminated in the recruitment process.
  9. Women may be more difficult to make a career if she becomes pregnant and needs was vacant for some time. Some employers do not accept that women are vacant because of their pregnancy.
  10. The perspectives are mostly equal except perhaps that a woman will usually think more about adapting her career to accomodate having children. Women take time off from work to care for the children much more often than men.
